Online casino site Poker Room has spent over half a million dollars this year on 19 poker players that make up “Team Poker Room.” The online casino poker stars beat off stiff competition at the online casino site to be named in the 19 player squad that will represent Poker Room at this year’s World Poker Tour Championships in Las Vegas. The event commences on April 18 at the prestigious Bellagio Hotel.
The online casino will be hoping that the final on April 24 will consist of one or more of its squad. Each player is receiving approximately $27,900 each from the online casino firm, including accommodation, travel and the $25,000 buy-in for the tournament. More than 100 poker players competed for a coveted spot in the Poker Room team. Players battled against each other through online qualifying tournaments for a chance to represent the online casino firm at arguably the world’s most popular live poker event.
A Poker Room spokesperson has stated that the online casino site provides a valuable location for players to learn from each other and build their poker skills. Those who have made the online casino team come from all walks of life, including a Texan sales representative and an investment banking analyst from California. |
